Music Oasis Review

Ever since Limewire shut down I've been looking for another site to find good music on.  Piratebay used to be good, but I've gotten viruses and Trojans from it lately so I've scratched it off my list.  Demonoid is really good, but you need an invitation to join.  So far I haven't gotten one yet.  (Hmmph!) 

While on Amazon.com today I saw a link for Music Oasis.  It had good reviews and the music was supposed to be "kick-ass" and "rock on!" and every other thumbs-up you can imagine.  I checked to be sure it was a safe site and McAfee showed it to be clean. 

What  mistake!  It didn't contain any viruses or Trojans (at least, none that I'm aware of), but it forces you to install the Yahoo toolbar, Yahoo as your home page, and about 6 add-ons I didn't want--all from companies selling products.  "No problem," I thought to myself.  "I'll let it install these annoying things then clean them out after I'm done loading the program."

After Music Oasis installed everything I had to get onto my Firefox add-ons and take off three programs, then get into add/remove and take out a few more.  There were icons on my desktop that needed deleting as well.  Okay, I got all that crap off, now for the music...!

I opened the Music Oasis program and typed some of my favorite bands in the search bar.  Nothing.  I saw a genres tab so I clicked that and saw Electronica (among approximately six other genres like jazz, hip-hop, pop, country, etc.)  A list of DJs came up and I didn't recognize any of them.  I checked Pop, didn't recognize a single performer.  The same with hip-hop and the others.  Talk about disappointed! 

It appears that all of these artists may be trying to advertise their music so they allow Music Oasis to hand it out for free.  Yes, you can download them onto your computer then put them on your iPod.  But if you don't know a single performer, what's the point?  Sure, I could listen to them and see if I end up liking them, but I already know what I like!

The fact that it downloaded all that garbage and I had to install it and the fact that it has no recognizable performers makes it a complete waste of time.  At least, for me.  Others may find it enjoyable.  Right now I just listen to Pandora from my computer.  I can't download the music to my mp3 player, but at least I can listen to what I want when I want.  Hopefully another free music site like Limewire will come out soon.

Christmas for a girl on a budget

The other day I was watching the "Confessions of a Shopaholic" movie and even though I'm not in nearly the financial situation the main character in that movie is, her crazy spending habits were ringing a little too true for me. So I've decided that instead of going out and buying some really great gifts for all of my friends and family this year, I'll actually just try to make them myself.

I am pretty creative after all, so I thought that this wouldn't be too much of a hassle. I've been bookmarking craft ideas for presents for my loved ones for weeks now. While I was doing that the other day, I saw some offers for satellite internet companies and decided to check it out and sign up my home internet service for one of them.

So far the DIY Christmas gifts that I've put together look so great! I've made a little sweater that you put around a coffee mug that keeps you're hands from getting too hot that I'm going to give to my mom. She loves stuff like that and I think I'm going to make another one for my friend.

Dental Hygiene Scrubs At Blue Sky Scrubs

A friend of mine has been a dental hygienist for ten years now and she's still wearing the same drab scrubs as when she started.  When I visit her at work I see her coworkers in bright, colorful, even whimsical dental office uniforms, and "Sue" sits there wearing scrubs that look like they came straight out of the early 90's--those pale pastels that are reminiscent of desert sunrises.  Sounds good when it's a view of the horizon, but her faded scrubs have got to go.

Christmas is just around the corner so I thought I'd order her some new fashion seal medical scrubs from Blue Sky Scrubs.  There are so many colors to choose from, even the traditional green surgical scrubs.  Best of all, I don't have to face the shopping crowds at the mall, I can order the scrubs right from my computer and have them shipped to her home. 

I'm eager for Sue to see her new uniforms.  I'm sure she'll love them, and she'll look stylish as well.  No more drab medical uniforms for her!   

Dawn of The Dead- The Best Remake Today

If I had to pick an action movie that is my favorite, I would have to say it is the remake of Dawn of the Dead. Now, most die-hard zombie fans would argue with me, and say that nothing is as good as the original. And from someone who lives 15 minutes from Monroeville Mall, which is the famous mall that the original movie was shot at, I have to say I guess I can somewhat understand that.

However, the second movie was extremely exciting from the beginning, and the plot was easy to follow. One of my favorite parts was when the little girl in the beginning became a zombie, and bit the girl's boyfriend. From there, the movie got better and better. The chase scene with the zombie boyfriend was actually funny, and I also liked when they were chased into the mall by the guy with one arm.

The characters were very convincing, and I do have to say I was even somewhat disturbed by the baby scene, when the girl dies as a zombie before giving birth. That was definitely creepy, but very good. The ending was a cliff-hanger, as you are never quite sure whether they made it alive or not. I love to be able to watch this action movie on Cable tv channels, right out of my own home.

Where did Bill Cosby come in at? Do you remember Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids? Bill Cosby was an early favorite television actor doing voice-overs for animation. Mr. Cosby did the majority of voice-overs for the animation Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. Most of the actor's performances were in stand-up comedy.

However, his transition into a favorite television actor seemed more of a back-end accident than a pursuit.
Cosby had performed previously to his famous television roles such as the afternoon school special The Electric Company. The show may have only premiered on the east coast. His most famous television role that really skyrocketed Cosby' s career was The Cosby Show. Of course the show featured himself, but himself as a father. His role as on of America's favorite television actors became embedded in stone.

America was facing somewhat of a culture shock at the time. Cosby had unexpectedly became one of America's favorite television actors. Prime-time Satellite TV deals had to reorganize their networks because the comedian had became so famous through the show. America's favorite television actor had struck prime-time gold. For years the show was unshakable from its position, and it was the actor himself that finally decided to end the show. When the show finally removed itself form prime-time, America had to watch their favorite actor on satellite television.
